WELCOME TO CHARLIE'S PLACE
Serving Our Homeless Neighbors in Washington, DC Since 1990
Grounded in community and sustained by hope, Charlie's Place offers a warm and calm space where people experiencing homelessness get basic needs met while also finding the resources they need to empower themselves and better their lives.
WASHINGTON, DC HAS A HOUSING CRISIS, AND THE PANDEMIC HAS ONLY MADE THINGS WORSE.
In the face of this global pandemic, we are doing everything we can to continue meeting the needs of our neighbors experiencing homelessness while taking the health and safety of our guests, volunteers, and staff very seriously.
For more than 30 years, Charlie’s Place has offered a warm and calm space where people experiencing homelessness get basic needs met while also finding the resources they need to empower themselves and better their lives.
Right from day one of the District’s first phase of pandemic response, we transitioned to provide meals outdoors. In the time since, we’ve served more than 5,500 “to go” meals, distributed almost 2,000 articles of clothing, and passed out over 300 toiletries. This is all part of a detailed and phased Covid-19 Response and Reopening Plan, which is enabling us to continue providing this essential support to those who need it most.
Thank you to our community for your support during this challenging time! We pray for the health and safety of you and your family and know that we will get through this – together!
See How Our Work Changes Lives
Charlie’s Place could not do what we do without your support. As we continue to make great strides in our service to the homeless population your donations are increasingly more important. We served over 8,000 meals and distributed over 2,000 articles of clothing between January and October of 2020 as we've strived to make the most of our resources for our neighbors whom the pandemic has hit the hardest.
If you want to go fast, go alone; If you want to go far, go together.
